By admin
Sending and receiving verbal and non verbal messages, Social , safe, structured-interviewing teaching. Nurse comes to know the patient as a unique individual , person comes to trust the nurse nurse provides care helps patient identify resolves/adapts to health problems.
Types of communication written or spoken words , choice of words reflect age, education, developmental level culture, feelings expressed threw tones, pace etc.etc.
Characteristics, simple brief, clear, well timed relevant, adaptable credible no verbal use of gestures, expressions, behaviors , body language, 85% is less verbal communication, valid interpretation, must be aware of personal style, physical appearance, posture, gait, facial expressions, gestures, touch, writing. To Look and Listen is the Most important moves a person could have.
When a message is sent from a person to another person a communication is being done. But the message its self-doesn't contain meaning. To understand one another you and your receiver must share similar meanings for words, gestures, tones of voice as well. The meaning exists in your mind and the receivers. The world contantly changes all things even speech. No one has a perecption of any one person As we live our minds absorbs our experiences in unique and personal ways. Any one who has had same experiences as you or I will not have an identical mind image or thoughts of this later the same.As senders we choose the details that seem important and focus our attention on the most relevant and general. As a reciver we try to fit new details into our existing patterns. If we dislike it we discard it or forget it.
Filtering is screeing out before a message is passed on to someone else, In a business is filtered by secetaries, assistants, receptionists, answering manchines, etc.etc. To over come filtering barriers try to eliminate as many intermediaries as possible and decrease distortion by condensing message info to the bare essentials.
When you talk you let all people know what cluture you stem fromBarriers exist because words can be interpreted in more than one way! Language is an arbitrary code that depends on shared definitions, but there's a limit to how completely any of us share the same meaning for a given word. To over come language barriers, use the most specific and accurate words possible. Always try to use words your audience will understand. Increase the accurancyof your message, by useing language that describes rather than evaluates and by presenting observable facts, events, and circumstances.
The most common Barrier is lack of good ATTENTION!!! on both parties part…We all let the mind have its own space from time to time (wander)When some one is speaking and you are not tuned into the session hard for you to understand or has no bearing for you ITS a FACT people don't Listen very Well.So Many Barriers do pop up amoung all people.Paraphase what you did understand try to see how others took what was just said ask questions if need be and don't jump to any conclusions, Then listen again with out interrupting.
Every message contains both a content meaning which deals with the subject of the message and a relationship meaning which suggest the nature of the interaction between sender and receiver. Communication can break down when the reciver reacts negatively to either of these meanings. You may have to deal with people when you become upset or they are upset when either is going crazy things don't seem to be said right and some are harsh words that most regret later ever saying. So this all falls under mis under standing Then emotional barriers can play a huge part as well have to try to control these. Most imporant is to be alert to the potential for Misunderstood Emotional messages.
Difference in back grounds can and is the hardest communication barriers to over come. Age, Education, Gender, Social Status, Economic Position, Cultural back grounds, Temperament, Health, Beauty, Popularity, Religion,Political belief and even a passing mood can all separate a person from another and make understanding difficult
Personalities and perceptions Don't always assume that behaviors mean the same thing to everyone.
Make sense for you???
